Las Vegas has always been a fast moving place full of excitement and people making things happen. Is has always been known as the capitol of the country for excitement and fun, and has always been full of interesting shows, fabulous buildings, and entertainment. Few people outside of Las Vegas know what it is like to actually live here. Not much of the US knows that the people who live in Las Vegas are driven, hard working, and business minded, and that live the same exciting fast paced life both during the day and at night.
By the late 70’s the business crowd in Las Vegas was growing, and there were more and more people moving here from other cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, making their way into a city that had vast opportunities for business and development. It became a place of business executives needing a power lunch. In 1992, Sonio’s Café opened in Las Vegas on Valley View & Charleston and quickly became the hottest spot for lunch in the valley. The people understood that the concept of fresh, healthy and delicious food at a good price with fast and efficient service, was what they needed to get up and go! Quickly the restaurant grew into a popular icon, and owner Yiorgo Aretos saw the opportunity to expand. He did so by adding the catering menu and delivery service to the business, allowing people the opportunity to frequent the restaurant in many different situations, and times of day.
After 11 years of operation, on September 12, 2003, the shopping mall on Valley View and Charleston burned to the ground in a massive 4 alarm fire, and because the building was so old, and there were no fire walls separating the businesses, the fire spread to the restaurant, and Sonio’s Café was lost. 14 months later, Sonio’s reopened, bigger, better and newer than before, and opened its’ doors on November 18th, 2004 to a packed house, lines out the door, and television and radio reporters abound. Las Vegas had eagerly awaited the return of their favorite restaurant and welcomed us back with open arms. Since then, Sonio’s Café has thrived and flourished at our original location.
